§ 6-189. Notice of county action to demolish.
(a)
If the owner of a building or structure identified in a notice issued under section 6-187 has failed to comply with the requirements thereof in the manner specified therein, the building official is authorized to immediately initiate action authorized under this article by which the county shall repair or demolish the building or structure or portion thereof.
(b)
To initiate an action authorized under this article for the county to undertake the demolition of a building or structure or a portion thereof, the building official shall prepare and issue to the owner thereof and each affected party with respect thereto a notice of county action to demolish. In addition to the requirements in section 6-184, the notice shall contain at a minimum the following:
(1)
If only a portion of the building or structure is to be demolished, a sufficient description of the portion.
(2)
A requirement that the building or structure be vacated immediately and remain vacated.
(3)
A statement that the county may undertake all action necessary to cause the building or structure to be vacated.
(4)
A requirement that the notice provided under section 6-196 be posted as required therein.
(5)
A statement that the county may undertake all action necessary to cause the building or structure to be vacated and the notice provided under section 6-196 to be posted as required therein until each repair is completed.
(6)
A statement that the county will undertake the demolition forthwith.
(7)
A statement that all costs incurred by the county in causing the building or structure to be vacated and posted with the notice provided under section 6-196, and in undertaking and completing the demolition will be assessed as a lien against the real property upon which the building or structure is located.
