§ 2-3. Service fee for dishonored checks, drafts, etc.

  • Whenever a dishonored check, draft, or other order for the payment of money to Clay County, to its board of county commissioners, to any of said board's departments, or to any of said county's public officials or agencies is returned to the payee thereof, said payee may charge a service fee of twenty dollars ($20.00) or five (5) per cent of the face amount of said dishonored check, draft, or other order for the payment of money, whichever is greater, in addition to said face amount. The proceeds from this service fee shall be retained by the collector of the fee.
