§ 6-253. Collection of special assessment.

  • (a)

    The board of county commissioners is authorized to appoint an agent to collect a delinquent special assessment imposed under section 6-252 and to foreclose the lien thereof in any manner provided by law. All costs, fees and expenses, including reasonable attorney fees, incurred by the county in or related to any action to so collect or foreclose shall be assessed against the owner of the real property subject to the lien.

    (b)

    As an alternative method to the collection under subsection (a) of a delinquent special assessment imposed under section 6-252, the board of county commissioners may, through appropriate proceedings, classify the same as a non-ad valorem assessment and authorize the collection thereof under section 197.3632, Florida Statutes, and any successor provision thereto.
