§ 15.5-22. Applicability.

The provisions of this article shall apply to all certified and noncertified persons appointed or employed by the office of the sheriff, including certified law enforcement members and certified detention members, except those identified as exempt persons. It is not, however, the intent of this article to grant the right of collective bargaining to persons appointed or employed by the office of the sheriff who do not otherwise have the right pursuant to law. The provisions of this article are not applicable to members on probation with the exception of those serving a period of conditional service due to promotion.
