§ 252. Authority—Generally.

  • There is hereby created a public, nonprofit authority, which is hereby designated as the Clay County Authority, for the purpose of erecting, building, equipping, maintaining, and operating at or near Green Cove Springs, within the said Clay County hospital district, a public hospital; and authority is hereby given to said authority to build, erect, equip, maintain, and operate a public hospital and related facilities at or near Green Cove Springs, Clay County, such hospital not to exceed ninety (90) beds, the number of beds to be determined by the authority; and the authority is hereby further authorized from time to time when practicable to extend, enlarge, and otherwise increase the size and services to be rendered the public by said hospital and related facilities; the authority is further authorized, when rooms and services are available without injury or deprivation to the citizens and residents of Clay County, to extend hospitalization provided for by said hospital and related facilities to patients from adjoining and other counties and states, upon the payment of the cost of such hospitalization as may be determined by the authority, provided, however, that, at all times and in all cases, preference in admission is given to any patient or patients who may apply for admission who are citizens or residents of Clay County; and the purposes of such hospital and related facilities are hereby declared to be public purposes and county purposes of Clay County.
